A 21-year-old male presented in the last hour of clinic complaining through a Translator of rapid heart rate and left arm weakness. He is a carpenter and worked in the heat the day before, drinking very little water. The rapid heartbeat started at work, then improved, then worsened again while he was resting at night.
All his labs and ECGs were normal. He felt more comfortable wearing his sunglasses inside (but had no actual photophobia)…as if he were trying to hide from someone.
As we talked, he described out-of-body experiences that he could initiate and some that occurred on their own.
Then he volunteered that his mother had taken him to a house of women who turned out to be evil and gave him the “evil eye” (meaning they were jealous of him).
I asked if I could pray for him in Jesus’ Name. He responded “yes,” and the translator agreed to translate my prayer.
I prayed that he would feel the love of God and be filled with the grace of God to withstand what had been done to him.
I rebuked the evil and told it to leave in Jesus’ Name. The patient was visibly relieved. I thanked the Translator for translating the prayer, and she said it was a privilege. He said I was the best doctor!
